Libraries are important for community engagement, development, learning and cohesion.
Library staff are experienced, qualified and passionate. The "missing links" are:
1. Having a clear way of measuring our impact on the community; and
2. Building partnerships to improve the breadth of services we offer to the community while not increasing our costs.
There is literature around this, the Canadians are great at the measurement and librarians, once stimulated to further enhance their existing partnerships are more than capable.
We need to begin in an organised, collaborative fashion to maximise our learning.
